Introduction:
Picture a scenario: you’re playing a video game, and you’ve just had a great game, and you start to chat with your teammates. One of your teammates asks,
“Hey, we should play something again.”
You feel happy because someone noticed your skills, and your chemistry with that specific group is phenomenal. However, your worrying that you may not perform as well in the next couple of games, and the fear of being judged pushes you from bonding with your teammates, and you reply
“Sorry, I have to go now.”
Anxiety Causes Lost Opportunities:
It may not seem true at first, but experiences and the number of times you’ve missed out on something because of your mindset accumulate and impose dangerous effects on your health. When you believe you cannot do something because you may seem inferior, or simply are too scared to try. It causes you to believe that others are superior to you and that you have limited talent. Eventually causing depression and other complications. As obvious as it may seem, pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone is the most optimal strategy to improve anxiety. You need to be optimistic in nearly every scenario. To the extent that you may seem delusional, but it is actually confidence. Being scared is holding you back: the number of job opportunities you may have missed, or the times you should have stepped up and simply did not, are heavy and carry a burden that is nearly impossible to forget. These experiences challenge your mind to build and develop. It is scared to try again and learn from its mistakes, because it has already failed. Humans do not want to fail; we want everything to go our way, but that is plainly impossible. There are times when scenarios are described perfectly in our heads, but happen completely differently. You might have gotten rejected by a group of peers, and because of that incident, you are too scared to talk to new people. But imagine this, out of a possible ten times, if the negative outcome shows in nine of the ten attempts, there is still is one positive outcome where you will be happy. Rejection is inevitable, but so is acceptance. It takes time to realize where you will be guided.
Building Confidence:
Building confidence is difficult, and learning from past experiences can be tricky at times to fully understand. Circumstances may have been different because of the environment, or they could have been caused by you. The outcomes that were caused by you, you’ll need to reflect upon those and understand why the result happened the way it did. Question yourself,
What went Wrong?
Why did it go Wrong?
What could I have done to have it Better?
Am I at fault?
How can I learn from this
These questions allow you to self-reflect as well as offer constructive criticism to yourself. Get into the habit and routine of questioning every time you feel uneasy or nervous about something. In addition, you will need to imagine the perfect scenario and the worst possible scenario. Compare the two, realize no matter what happens, at least you acknowledged it, and took the right measures to attempt to fix it.
Conclusion:
Anxiety not only affects people socially, but most importantly, mentally. It hurts knowing that we may try our best in situations, but it simply does not go our way. However, the times it may seem like an optimal route, you must capitalize on that scenario. You need to push yourself out of your comfort zone,
Try talking to a stranger?
Call a friend and have a meaningful conversation.
Friend recent teammates on games
Join a fandom
Look for new activities to learn.
Join a Club
Try Public Speaking
There are several opportunities for all of us. No matter the situation we are in, there are precautions as well as steps we can take to learn and move on.
Failure is common; it will happen practically every day. One may take it positively, whereas another may take it negatively. However, the eventual acceptance of failure helps us grow and pushes us in a different direction as humans. Even if we fail in the worst possible way, at least we tried. It is better than not trying at all.
