Growth Feels Uncomfortable- That’s a Great Sign

Introduction:

Growth is not supposed to feel easy or simple. At times, it feels like we are in a dream when experiencing growth, because earlier we couldn’t accomplish the same tasks. For English speakers, it can be troublesome to experience growth because you may feel intimidated to show off your new skills to friends and family due to personal judgment. You think of things such as

  • “I barely improved; no one will notice.”

  • “The guy on YouTube learned it faster than I did.”

  •  “Took me long enough.”

Negative phrases such as these prolong and hinder the brain’s ability to fully optimize its potential. But is that a part of the learning process?

Negativity is Important:

Obviously, it is very important to be optimistic and have aspirations to be the best. Always think positively, and push yourself outside of your comfort zone to see all of the available opportunities. However, the other side of emotions is also beneficial when improving at a certain skill. Negativity is harmful if there is too much of it, impacting your life. But with proper techniques and guidance, it can be used to improve your skills and help you achieve mastery at a faster pace.

Strategies:

At first glance, it seems like a paradox because there isn’t a definitive answer for how negativity can be implemented. At all angles, it seems more like a hindrance rather than a beneficial opportunity for us to capitalize on. The best way to implement negativity into your learning is to use it as motivation.

The next time you perform poorly on an assignment, think to yourself, thoroughly, why you scored in that manner. Understand the methods of studying and techniques you used before, and the major flaws with them. Keep the helpful ones and throw away the obsolete ones. There are key things to look for,

  • How can I turn negativity into motivation

  • This will help me figure out how to clean my studying

  • How should I prioritize tasks

It is essential to constantly ask questions about performances and habits you do because it allows you to build as a person and optimize your goals to their fullest.

The Importance of Growth:

Growth is important for several reasons and is a crucial mechanism for how we adapt as humans. We need to be stimulated and forced to adapt and change to better suit ourselves and the environment. More importantly, it alters the brain in a positive way. Pushing our brains outside our comfort zone allows us to learn new things and figure out different ways to solve problems. Impossible riddles or bonus questions on certain tasks motivate us and cause us to think in numerous ways that would be irregular if it were a normal thing. We have several articles explaining the importance of learning English and the vast applications it has in life. One of the most crucial things everyone should focus on is striving to be a better person than yesterday. Pushing ourselves constantly and looking for new learning methods will help us in the long run.

Conclusion:

Growth is straightforward and doesn’t have many advanced aspects to it. It is all in the mind, and it is upon the individual to maximize their talents and skills for effective growth. Many times, it will feel abnormal and strange because we are not used to performing differently, but it is important for long-term goals, and it will drastically improve dozens of situations in the future. That is a guarantee.
