Introduction:
English has rapidly became a global language for communication in various fields.
It is used in schools, businesses, governmental offices, hospitals, and many other areas. Knowing the principles of english and understand the basic means of communication and delivery can drastically improve networks. In addition, having a broad basis of understanding in the language of english can help with job application, higher level learning, and internship opportunities for different things. English is a way to connect, a way to bond, and a way to share thoughts and opinions to our close friends and peers. It needs to be respected and welcomed rather than forced. Anyone who learns english or any language can open their world to a new basis, and might even change their perception on past beliefs.
Barriers to Learning English:
There are many obstacles along the way that can impair and hinder one’s ability to properly learn and improve at English. For example, cost is a major and often the most thought-of problem when learning a new language. It is difficult to find online courses or classes for a designated topic, and high-level tutos are scarce. However, with the rapidly improving technology, and many apps designed for languages, communications, and writing exist on several platforms for individuals to expand their knowledge on. Instead of paying for an English class, individuals may be able to use artificial intelligence to help brainstorm a study plan for English. Also, apps such as Duolingo exist for people to stay motivated as well as have fun while learning English.
Another obstacle includes limited access to teachers and proper one-on-one tutoring. In English-speaking countries, there are numerous locations, opportunities, and resources to improve your English skills. However, that may not be the case in other countries. Especially those that do not have English as their primary nor secondary language, learning English can be extraordinarily difficult to find proper tutoring because it is not the norm to learn English in that given country. Consider a country like Russia, which predominantly speaks Russian and its various dialects. They are taught in schools in Russia, and are accustomed to Russian culture and education. It can be hard to find English help or English classes in Russia.
What does “Accessible Education” mean?
Accessible education refers to flexible, affordable, and community-supportive learning for all individuals. It’s important because many obstacles exist, and dozens of individuals may want to learn English, but they may not have the ability to do so. Flexibility allows a variety of ways to learn English. From online to in-person tutoring, or even a class session with other kids to practice. It’s important that there are several options to choose from as everyone has their own learning style or situation that they’re currently in. Affordability sounds just as it is, being cheap. English shouldn’t be behind a paywall and everyone deserves the opportunity to learn it. We want to connect and expand our understanding of English, and we can even improve our own English through learning from others. The potential for syncretism or fusion of English with other cultures or languages can significantly enhance group communication, and perhaps even a new lingua franca might be created. Offering low-cost sessions or options results in a larger pool of individuals learning English, and have the option to learn English. Lastly, everyone should support and cooperate with each other as compliments can improve the confidence of a learner. Group projects or assignments can create numerous situations where a large collective of students and learners can combine their thoughts and learn from one another. It is what we want in learning, and friends can be made.
Effects of Accessibility:
There are dozens of effects of accessibility, ranging from economic, social, and educational. Economically, English can provide more job opportunities and support individuals in the workforce in finding chances for extra work. People can be connected through a shared language, and social bonds can be formed. A reduction in discrimination can help promote an understanding between cultures. It bridges the gaps between ethnicities, allowing people to discuss various topics. Accessibility offers an array of educational opportunities to learn English, or seek further knowledge about English. The best part is that anyone can be impacted, regardless of prior understanding.
