Introduction:
Oftentimes, most individuals who learn English believe the most systematic way to maximize progress is through memorizing vocabulary lists or reading textbooks. While these options aren’t terrible, it’s nearly impossible to learn a language without speaking it.
Why Socializing is Beneficial for Growth:
Reading textbooks is great, watching tutorials on punctuation rules, common grammar errors, or even the alphabet is all helpful. However, eventually you will reach a certain stage, and improvement will become difficult. In addition, the brain will start to develop laziness when it constantly faces the same challenges over and over again. For example, imagine reading a textbook and you solve practice problems. After a couple of problems, it is imperative that you assume everything is already mastered, and it is unnecessary to continue studying. It may feel like mastery after a couple of correct questions, but eventually the fatigue and repetitiveness will catch up and cause growth to be stunted. If the brain does not want to learn, it will not improve. Speaking, however, does not impose this problem. Visualize yourself going to a party, and you want to engage in interactions with others. There are various amounts of different opening lines available, such as,
“Hello, how are you?”
“What’s up?”
“I like the shoes.”
“Having fun?
There are so many different outcomes that exemplify the beauty of speaking. Socializing forces your brain to adapt to different outcomes rather than a fixed set of rules. There are thousands upon millions of different phrases, questions, and ideas you could conjure up. It cures boredom as the brain wants constant, yet not repetitive stimulation.
Ways to socialize:
There are dozens of ways to socialize throughout your life. Some include
Joining a sport
Attending community events
Joining school clubs
Attending different classes
It is important that you feel committed or have a sense of joy when participating, as if your brain doesn’t feel interested, optimal results will be discordant.
Obstacles during Socializing:
It’s common, everyone feel disconnected, and anxiety creeps up, ruining their mood. It is vital to understand that mistakes and errors are common. Everyone makes the slightest mistakes, such as saying something awkward, stuttering, or slurring speech. There will be instances where the responder will mock or tease you for errors in your words, but they, too, have made mistakes at some point. Just remember to stay mentally strong and focus on building from your mistakes.
How to start:
At first, English may seem like an excruciating language to learn, but it is arguably the most widespread and most influential language throughout our world, which may feel like it's a necessity to learn. Learn with pride and have fun along the journey. Here is a sample guide for you to follow
Step 1: Mindset
Everyone has motivation, but not everyone possesses discipline. It is important to stay mentally strong throughout the process of mastering English. There might be days were people mock you for your speech, or lose your train of thought in the middle of speaking to someone, but learning from the mistakes and building the bridge is paramount. Start with small goals,
Meeting one to three new people per week
Join the local community club
Have conversations with existing friends for longer periods of time
Step 2: Build Prior Knowledge
If prior knowledge exists, that is great, and continue to improve vocabulary through
Communication
Speaking Games
Focusing on word pronunciation
If prior knowledge is not available, don't worry, try to learn basic greetings and phrases, and practice speaking to a family member. After which, you can
Ask a teacher or a mentor for speaking advice
Learn syllables and proper mouth movement
Step 3: Reflect Upon Weekly Progress
Track weekly progress and visualize what mistakes you made, how to improve them, and constantly learn new things. This could be through
Recording conversations with friends or family and acknowledge how you communicate
Start the week with a difficult idea and try to solve it.
Conclusion:
Overall, there are many alternative ways to learn and assimilate english. Obviously, the standard method of reading online textbooks and watching videos are beneficial, but trying a new strategy may open your perspective to a different light. Choosing a safe and fun environment is also critical when socializing, talking to those who bring you down is not healthy, explain to your family your goals and they will most indefinitely help you. Hope through English aspires to help dozens to learn english effectively and through safe means.
