South Africa

 Listening, Learning, and Leading

Where We Work
In Eastern Cape and Limpopo, many students face uneven access to English resources despite its national prominence. Rural schools often operate with outdated books and limited classroom support.

What’s Different
Instead of structured lessons, our approach in South Africa emphasizes listening: we encourage students to tell stories, describe their day, and share opinions—skills often neglected in traditional classrooms.

Impact Snapshot
One student-led poetry group in a township outside Port Elizabeth now meets weekly with a mentor, reading Maya Angelou aloud and writing their own verses.

Why It Matters
Mastery of English opens doors to universities, job training, and leadership opportunities in South Africa’s multilingual society.
